Friends Is Looking for New Board Members
Love Bethlehem’s parks and recreation programs? Looking for a meaningful way to get involved in your community?
Friends of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation is seeking community members interested in joining our board of directors and helping guide the organization into its next chapter.
Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works with the Town of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation Department to support and enhance our parks and recreational programs. We raise funds, organize volunteers, increase awareness and support activities that help make Bethlehem an even better place to live and play.
As several longtime board members prepare to transition from leadership at the end of 2027, Friends needs new people to step forward to help sustain the organization and guide its next chapter. New directors will have time to get to know the organization and work alongside current board members before taking on additional responsibilities.
What Does Serving on the Board Involve?
Our board currently meets monthly via Zoom but has flexibility to meet less frequently. Meetings generally last 60–90 minutes.
Board members also have opportunities to participate in community activities throughout the year. Friends hosts I Love My Park Day each spring and supports Parks and Recreation events such as Winter Carnival, Senior Health and Fitness Day and the Trick or Treat Story Walk. The Parks and Recreation Department provides strong support and resources for these activities.
You don’t need previous board experience. We welcome people who care about our community and are willing to contribute their time and ideas. Experience with fundraising, finance or accounting, social media or nonprofit organizations would be especially helpful.
Interested, but Not Ready to Commit?
That’s OK. Exploring board service doesn’t require an immediate commitment. Start with a conversation, join us for a board meeting or participate in an event to learn more about Friends and the people involved.
And if board service isn’t right for you, we’d still like to hear from you. There may be opportunities to lend your skills or time to a specific Friends project or event.
Want to Learn More?
We’d be happy to talk with you about Friends, what it means to serve on our board, and how you might get involved. Please contact us here or:
